after speechday today, i do not regret AT ALL for saying that i love njc in my speech. because it's as true as it can get. i do love this school, and today proved to me again why i love this school. it's the people. the school is full of warmth and love.. and today was no exception as encouragements were flying everywhere around school for council elects. and whenever i needed feedback about my performance, i always get honest yet assuring ones. thank you guys for being there for me today...a01, a02, maldives, choir, 04a02, seniors, friends... thank you so much. you really helped make njc my 2nd home. :)
so speechday wasnt as trumatising as i expected to be, but it WAS tramatising. i am really thankful that its over! it was pure torture to sit in the SL waiting and waiting for my turn to start, trying my very best to run my speech over and over again in my head amongst the noise while forcing myself to stay calm. it was also torturous to sit on stage, heart palpitating, hoping and hoping that no one will slam you down, and when someone askes u a question, you pray really hard that he/she is not a debater.
well, i guess my prayers were answered as nobody slammed me down or directed a question at me. and i really realise that i am REALLY NOT witty as i couldnt think of any quick witty replies to the general questions. i want to b wittier!! :D
so my venue allocation is LT5-->LT1-->HALL. i was super nervous in LT5 and i sort of screwed up i guess! haha. Ruth: " ...i really do want to serve...(long pause) and serving the school is something i passionately pursue..." TOTALLY IRRELEVANT LA!!! hahahahahaha. i missed out ONE SUPER IMPORTANT SENTENCE. haha!!
and UNFORTUNATELY meltu my mentu is in LT5..so he saw me screwed up. sigh! why must he be in lt5! i wanted to do my mentu proud by giving a good speech...and he had to be in LT5!! *screams* worst still, richard, michelle & youkai was in lt5 too... *screams!!* WHY IS THE WHOLE WORLD IN LT5???!! haha.. the only good thing about lt5 is that 04a02 is there and they were really supportive! thanks seniors! :D
during the interval, jiali and i were practising out hearts out at the SL. jiali is really supportive! thank you so much jelly! *winks*
well lT1 was better as there was JIM, LUCY and MELTEE! :D seeing them in the LT really calmed me down a lot. in LT1 i was less nervous and this time, MY SENTENCE IS JOINED PROPERLY. :D haha. thank you so much jim, lucy and mel for encouraging and assuring me..U GUYS ROCK! :D
next venue, the hall. a place where i call the "slamming place" as i heard that most candidates got slammed in the hall. haha. so jiali and i were shaking like jellies (haha!) just outside the hall. however, i felt that i did the best in the hall as A02 and A01 were there cheering and clapping their hearts out for me. when i was waiting for my turn on stage, they kept making faces at me, asking me to smile more, relax and TO SIT PROPERLY!! hahaha. silly radar! :D and guys, thank you so much for saying that my speech touched ur hearts...it really encourages me alot...AND THE SPEECH WAS MEANT FOR YOUR EARS!! :D
the elects were all so relieved after the speeches that we went to the canteen to 'party". haha! wenhao was telling us ghosts stories abt nj and
shared with us his experience in elects camp. :D it was so fun!

"Good morning NJC! i am Ruth lim, candidate 55 from class a01.
frankly speaking, in my secondary school years, i never did expect myself to be in Njc, so me being here today is truly a blessing.
well, i remember that on my first day in Njc, i was feeling worried, fearful and anxious. being a slow adapter, it was trumatising for me to have a sudden change in environment and honestly, there were very few familiar faces.
however, i soon realised that these fears and worries were really unnecessary as i got to know, and then to love this special school. perhaps it was because i was in a deeply bonded class, a wildly enthusiastic house and was warmly greeted my Njcians at my very first step into NJC walk that developed in me a strong sense of rootedness to the school, and the desire to serve the school by joining the students council.
i have the passion to serve. i really do want to serve.
i believe in giving my best in everything that i do,
and serving the school is something which i passionately persue.
once again, i am Ruth Lim, candidate 55. please do vote for me."
